National Information Technology Board (NITB) has achieved a significant milestone in the successful implementation of Electronic Filing System (e-Office) in all 40 Ministries/Divisions of the Federal Government.
NITB specializes in leading automation, design, development and implementation of robust IT technologies to promote e-governance culture in the federal government.
This key task was entrusted to NITB Acting Executive Director Syed Hasnain Abbas Kazmi, who has not only come up with innovative solutions within stipulated time but also has the potential of more than a full day for e-office users of all federal ministries . /Divisions organized training programmes. E-office has not only saved crores of rupees from the national exchequer but is also a big step towards reducing paperwork.
In the second phase
NITB will start implementing e-office in various departments of federal ministries.
The robust e-Cabinet portal is another achievement under the present leadership of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications and NITB, which has changed the paper based cabinet meeting process to a completely paperless environment providing through a secure digital system.
This has results in a saving of about Rs. 70 million since its most recent use. After successful use of e-Cabinet Portal in the Union, Balochistan and Sindh also requested NITB for similar solution for their Provincial Ministries. NITB aims to complete its rollout in Balochistan and Sindh by August 2022.
Apart from other strategic initiatives of NITB, it has developed a state-of-the-art digital portal for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in collaboration with Board of Investments (BoI) for the convenience of investors, which will be launched soon.
