In a thrilling first edition of FIH Hockey 5 in Lausanne
Switzerland on Saturday, Pakistan drew 2-2 with traditional rivals India.
According to the information shared by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), India started the goal through Mohammad Raheel in the first minute of the game. Thanks to Liaquat Arshad, Pakistan retaliated six minutes later, this lead did not last long. Opportunities came from both sides but the match remained level till half time.
In the second half, Pakistan started on the front foot, but the Indian defense foiled several consecutive attacks. Against the race of the game, India once again took the lead, with Gore Sahibjit Singh scoring the goal. Pakistan leveled the match in seconds as Abdul Rehman swung a cross from the right.
Earlier, Pakistan had won their first match of the tournament 4-2 against Poland. Pakistan started the score in the third minute with a goal from Murtaza Muhammad. The lead lasted only two minutes when Poland returned via Rotkowski Wojciech.
Pakistan snatched the match from Poland via a hat-trick from Abuzar, who scored in the 6th, 12th and 14th minutes. Poland made it 4-2 by scoring a satisfying goal through a late Paulic Robert.
Pakistan will play two matches on Sunday. They will face Switzerland in the first match, while they will face Malaysia in the second match. The final will also be played on Sunday at the end of the round-robin phase.
